The Youth Choir of the Rhine National Opera in Strasbourg, known as the Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg, is set to tour Cyprus this month, bringing their acclaimed choral performances to audiences across the island. Their tour will commence in Nicosia on April 8th, followed by a performance in Limassol on April 9th, and concluding in Paphos on April 10th.
Founded in 2001, the Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg has established itself as a prominent musical force in the Alsace region. The choir is recognized for its diverse repertoire, the inclusion of original compositions, and its high level of artistic excellence, which is nurtured through its close collaboration with the Opéra National du Rhin.
Leading the ensemble since 2013 is the Franco-Argentinian conductor and composer Luciano Bibiloni. For this Cyprus tour, Bibiloni will present the oratorio “Annelies” by British composer James Whitbourn, featuring 32 choir singers, comprising both teenagers and adults. They will be accompanied on stage by musicians Evgenia Selina (vocals), Julien Moquet (violin), Antoine Martynciow (cello), George Georgiou (clarinet), and Hélène Herzberger (piano). The program will also feature compositions by Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré.
The full Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg ensemble comprises 130 choristers, both girls and boys aged 7 to 18, who are divided into five sub-choirs based on age. A male voice choir further expands the ensemble’s capabilities, enabling them to perform a wide range of vocal repertoire, from solo pieces to large-scale choral works, encompassing both equal and mixed voices.
Their performances in Cyprus are anticipated to be a captivating musical experience, immersing audiences in the emotional depth of their narratives.
